Opening Reception: Daniel Stumeier: American Visions

Friday, September 29 from 6:00-9:00 pm, Reese Gallery, 3410 Wisconsin

In the solo exhibition "American Visions," artist Daniel Stumeier brings meticulously rendered drawings of country stars (and one art critic) into a white cube gallery setting. In doing so, he creates a conversation between “underclass” and “asthete” – squaring off the politics of rebellion against art world pretensions. The questions asked by this work are rather painful and yet so pertinent. For, what is white America’s vision of itself? Stumeier’s response is not without humor.
