Summer Youth Employment Opportunity - Benton Park West, Gravois Park, Dutchtown

Lutheran Development Group is looking for 8-10 young people, ages 16-24, to work this summer clearing brush, trimming trees, removing fences, and hauling debris on LRA lots in Gravois Park and Dutchtown.

The program will run from early June to mid-August, 8:30am - 1:00pm, Monday-Friday. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. Youth will be working alongside an on-site, OSHA-trained supervisor.

We are actively recruiting youth from Benton Park West, Gravois Park, and Dutchtown, but will also accept youth in nearby neighborhoods.

We are partnering with St. Louis Youth Jobs to be the employer, but have some funds to hire youth directly if they are not in Youth Jobs partner neighborhoods.

We understand this work isn't glamorous, but we see it as an opportunity for someone who wants to work outside or work with their hands. We will also be intentional about incorporating leadership and team-building experiences. We want this to be a learning opportunity as well, teaching youth about community investment/disinvestment, property speculation, concepts of "blight," and gentrification, and an opportunity for us to learn about their experiences in their communities. They will also have the chance to meet partner organizations and individuals in construction trades through this work.

Please share this flyer with youth, families, and other partners.

Thanks!

Lucas
