POSTED by ANNE MCCULLOUGH on SEPTEMBER 7, 2014

St. Louis – Join Cherokee Street in a celebration of the Mexican, Mexican American and Latin communities as they share in culture, traditions, food and art. Fiesta on Cherokee is a celebration of all cultures on Cherokee Street and will be held Saturday, September 13th and Sunday, September 14th 2014 from 11:00 AM to 10: 00 PM.

This free festival will bring the local Mexican and Mexican-American communities together as they celebrate the rich heritage, history and culture of their Mexican ancestors who fought for their independence from the Spanish government during the early 1800s.

The festival will feature live music, an assortment of authentic Mexican refreshments and other ethnic food and drinks. Some of the traditional festival fare will include tamales, tacos, tortas, paletas, elote, margaritas and piña coladas. There there will also be children’s activities, craft vendors, art and dancing.

Regional Mexican acts will perform throughout both days on the Main stage and will include Grupo Viento y Sol, El Hershey, Duenos de la Musica Nortena, Rudy Ramirez, Grupo Veloz, Grupo Mexico, M-314 and Desesperados del Norte. The festival will be held between Nebraska and Iowa on Cherokee Street.
